Despite providing a wide range of exclusive titles tailored for its own original control function, the Nintendo Wii is often forgotten for its action/RPG exclusives. That said, one title released at the end of 2009 took gaming sales by storm and earned great praise amongst gaming circles; Wii’s Muramasa: Demon Blade.
The title follows two sword slingers as they battle their way towards their own goals. Kisuke is a youthful Ninja fighting to access his memories whilst searching for the ultimate sword, and Momohime, a samurai girl overtaken by an evil spirit. Wii’s Muramasa: Demon Blade is tailored towards the unique skills both of these protagonists exert as master sword users.
Players can utilize three varied control methods; the Wii remote itself, or by employingeither the Gamecube pad or the classic one. Additionally, in a nice development, players can opt to play Wii’s Muramasa: Demon Blade as a deep RPG, urging levelling up, or as a simpler action adventure.
Graphically, the game impresses where mostother Wii offerings could fall behind. Drawing paralells to Square Enix’s Odin Sphere, the title demonstrates a classic Japanese art style quickly becoming popular amongst players. There’s a massive range of swords to discover and forge throughout the campaign aswell, steeping users in katana mythos.
Wii’s Muramasa: Demon Blade is a great exclusive title which definitely deserves the praise it has garnered so far. The various play styles and great graphics provide a title which deserves multiple playthroughs, a definite pick for lovers of feudal Japanese ethos and sword play!
